Greenhouse / grow lights blackout (Wh honesty)

LED grow lights look “efficient” until you multiply fixtures × hours. Here’s watt math, labelled runtime estimates, and when a mid-size station is thin for a real photoperiod.

When a station is thin

  • Continuous watts first. A 600 W “draw” LED array needs ≥600 W continuous inverter — Wh alone won’t start it.
  • Photoperiod eats Wh. 12 h × 300 W = 3,600 Wh before inverter losses — far beyond a 1 kWh camping box for a full day.
  • “Equivalent watts” marketing. Shop the wall-draw / actual power consumption on the driver label, not “1000 W equivalent” sales copy.
  • Heaters / mats / fans add up. Propagation mats and exhaust fans are separate continuous loads.
  • Solar helps days, not always nights. Sunny recovery needs max PV ≥ array draw; cloudy weeks need expandables or fewer fixtures.

QuietWatt is product research — not horticulture advice. Runtime figures are estimates. Specs from manufacturer pages (checked Oct 2026).

LED watt math (estimates)

Hours ≈ (rated Wh × 0.85) ÷ actual LED watts.

Seedling bar ~40 W

~6–43 h

286 Wh ≈ 6 h · 1,024 Wh ≈ 21 h · 2,048 Wh ≈ 43 h (estimates)

Tent light ~150 W

~1.6–11 h

1 kWh ≈ half-day photoperiod slice — not a full 18/6 flower schedule (estimates)

Array ~400 W+

Thin on mid-size

1,024 Wh ≈ ~2 h · need multi-kWh / expandables or cut fixtures for outages

Strategy: run critical seedlings only; shorten photoperiod temporarily; pre-charge to 100%; add solar if the outage is daytime-heavy.

Comparison: stations for grow / greenhouse gaps

Filter by honesty class. “Thin” means full-array days won’t fit.

Model Wh · AC continuous Est. @ 40 W / 150 W Grow honesty Approx. USD
EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus Seedling 286 Wh · 600 W ~6 h / ~1.6 h (est.) One low bar overnight-ish; thin for tents. ~$180–300
Anker SOLIX C300 288 Wh · 300 W ~6 h @ 40 W (est.) Stay under continuous rating; skip 300 W+ drivers. ~$200–280
Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 Short photoperiod 1,070 Wh · 1,500 W ~21 h / ~6 h (est.) Useful bridge for a small LED; not a full flower week alone. ~$499–589
BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 1,024 Wh · 1,800 W ~21 h / ~5.5 h (est.) Same 1 kWh honesty — size lights down during grid loss. ~$380–500
Anker SOLIX C1000 Expand 1,056 Wh · 1,800 W
→ 2,112 Wh
~6 h @ 150 W · ~12 h expanded (est.) Extra battery buys hours, not magic for 600 W arrays. ~$400–600
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus Solar path 1,024 Wh · 1,800 W · 1,000 W max PV Same base hours; expand + solar for daytime grow rooms Still thin overnight for big arrays without multiple packs. ~$600–900+
BLUETTI AC200L More Wh 2,048 Wh · 2,400 W ~43 h @ 40 W · ~11 h @ 150 W (est.) Best Wh in this set — still plan fixture cuts for multi-kW rooms. ~$800–1,100
