Livestock waterer / trough pump backup

Keep a trough fill / transfer pump alive through an outage long enough to water stock — Wh and start-surge honesty. Deep-well / house pressure pumps: well / pressure pump backup. Not farm advice.

Not farm advice

  • Not farm, animal welfare, or irrigation advice. QuietWatt does not set watering schedules, stocking rates, or emergency stock plans. Follow your veterinarian / rural supplier guidance.
  • Gravity / reserve tanks often beat a camping battery for critical water — plan storage first.
  • Measure the pump. Nameplate running watts + locked-rotor / start current decide whether a mid-size station even starts.

Specs from manufacturer pages (checked Oct 2026). Runtime figures are estimates.

Pump honesty (vs well page)

  • Trough / transfer pumps are often smaller than deep well motors — still can surge hard.
  • Duty cycle. Filling a trough is bursty: minutes of high W, then idle. Wh math is motor-on time, not wall-clock alone.
  • Mid-size stations fail the same way as on well pumps when LRA exceeds surge — Wh sitting unused.
  • 12 V farm pumps may run from a deep-cycle battery more cleanly than AC conversion.

Wh estimates

Motor-on hours ≈ (rated Wh × 0.85) ÷ running watts.

Small transfer ~400 W

~0.6–4.3 h motor-on

286 Wh often surge-limited · 1,024 Wh ≈ 2.2 h · 2,048 Wh ≈ 4.3 h (estimates)

Common ~800 W

~1–2.2 h

Enough for several trough fills if start succeeds — not all-day irrigation

Deep well / big HP

See well page

Well / pressure pump — mid-size often fails harder there

Comparison: stock-water pump stations

Filter by honesty. Test start before the drought forecast.

Model Wh · AC / surge Trough / transfer honesty Est. @ ~800 W Approx. USD
EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus Too small 286 Wh · 600 W (X-Boost 1,200 W) Wrong class for most AC trough motors. N/A ~$180–300
Anker SOLIX C300 288 Wh · 300 W Fence / lights only — see electric fence. N/A ~$200–280
Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 Verify 1,070 Wh · 1,500 W / 3,000 W surge May run a smaller transfer pump if LRA fits — test first. ~1.1 h motor-on if start OK (est.) ~$499–589
BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 1,024 Wh · 1,800 W (lifting 2,700 W) Same mid-size honesty as well page — surge is the gate. ~1.1 h (est.) ~$380–500
Anker SOLIX C1000 Expand 1,056 Wh · 1,800 W / 2,400 W surge Extra Wh for more fill cycles — not more start amps. ~1.1 h · ~2.2 h expanded (est.) ~$400–600
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus 1,024 Wh · 1,800 W / 3,600 W surge Stronger surge path; expand for multi-fill days. ~1.1 h solo (est.) ~$600–900+
BLUETTI AC200L More buffer 2,048 Wh · 2,400 W class Best Wh/W in this set for intermittent trough fills — big wells still → well page. ~2.2 h @ 800 W (est.) ~$800–1,100
