Portable power stations for Australia

Australian homes run on 230 V with Type I sockets, the same plug as New Zealand. Buy the AU version from the brand's Australian store so the outlets fit your appliances and the unit carries local certification. Below: what the official AU pages say, and which QuietWatt guides fit Australian uses.

Australian uses

Bushfire and cyclone season outages

When the grid goes down in fire or cyclone season, a battery station runs indoors with no fumes, so it suits the fridge, phones, a radio and Wi-Fi. It won't run an air conditioner or a jug for long. Follow your state emergency service's advice first; a power station is for staying informed and keeping food cold, not for staying put against an evacuation order. Guides: Storm blackout kit · Fridge runtime · Generator vs battery.

Caravanning and camping

A 1 kWh class station covers a camping fridge, lights and devices for a weekend; solar extends it. Guides: Campervan power · Van life power · How many solar panels?

4WD and touring

ARB's portable compressor draws more than the 12 V car socket on most 1 kWh stations allows, so run it from the vehicle. Guides: Tyre inflator · Ute tray power.

230 V sockets and big appliances

Australian kettles and heaters often draw 2,000 W or more — more than many 1 kWh stations can supply continuously. Guides: Will it boil the jug? · 230/240 V stations · NZ & AU official stores.
