Fishing boat / kayak day-trip power (fish finder + lights + phone)

Size a light station for a day on the water: fish finder, LED nav / deck lights, and phone charge — with honest IP / splash limits. Most camping power stations are not marine electronics.

Honest marine limits

  • Not waterproof. Mainstream EcoFlow / Anker / BLUETTI / Jackery stations are typically indoor / camping IP ratings (often none published, or splash-resistant at best). They are not IP67 deck boxes. Use a dry bag, covered locker, or waterproof case — never open-cockpit spray without protection.
  • Not a house battery for bilge / nav legal kits. Dedicated marine deep-cycle + fuse panel remains the right architecture for installed boat systems. A portable station is day-trip accessory power.
  • Salt air kills terminals. Rinse isn’t enough — keep ports capped, wipe down after, store dry ashore.
  • Weight & trim. Kayaks and small tinnies punish 10+ kg midships. Prefer sub‑5 kg units for paddle craft.
  • No petrol generator on a kayak. Obvious — silent LiFePO₄ is the product; fumes and tip-over risk are not.

QuietWatt is product research, not marine survey or COLREGS advice. Follow your boat’s electrical and flotation limits.

Day-trip load budget (planning watts)

  • Fish finder / GPS combo. Often ~5–15 W continuous on 12 V; some larger units higher — check the label.
  • LED nav / deck lights. ~5–20 W when on (dusk runs).
  • Phone / VHF charge. USB ~5–15 W while charging.
  • Livewell / bait aerator (small). Can be 10–40 W — size up if you run one all day.

Typical kayak / small-boat stack (finder + phone + evening lights): about 15–40 W average. Usable Wh ≈ rated Wh × 0.85 on AC; better on native 12 V where available. Specs from manufacturer pages (checked Oct 2026).

Wh estimates (label: estimates)

Finder + phone (~20 W)

~10–50 h

245–288 Wh ≈ 10–12 h · 1,024 Wh ≈ 40+ h (estimates)

Stack + lights (~35 W)

~6–29 h

286 Wh ≈ 7 h · 1,024 Wh ≈ 25 h (estimates)

IP / splash reality

Dry bag required

Assume consumer stations need weather protection — verify any IP claim on the official page before trusting spray.

Comparison: day-trip boat / kayak stations

Filter by craft size. Prefer light weight + DC ports; treat waterproofing as your bag, not the brochure.

Model Wh · weight AC / DC Est. day-trip fit Marine / IP note Approx. USD
EcoFlow RIVER 3 Ultralight 245 Wh · ~3.55 kg 300 W AC Finder + phone for a full day with margin (est.). Camping IP class — dry bag / hatch only. No marine waterproof claim assumed. ~$150–230
Anker SOLIX C300 Light 288 Wh · ~4.1 kg 300 W class ~12 h @ 20 W class stack (est.). Same honesty: protect from spray; wipe salt after. ~$200–280
EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus More headroom 286 Wh · ~4.7 kg
→ 858 Wh
600 W (X-Boost 1,200 W) Day + dusk lights; expand pack if you add aerator. Still not a deck-wash rated box — cover it. ~$180–300
Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 Quiet day 1,070 Wh · ~10.8 kg 1,500 W · 12 V / 10 A car port Multi-day spare or power-hungry finder + lights all evening. Too heavy for many kayaks; fine strapped in a tinny locker under cover. ~$499–589
BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 Quiet 1,024 Wh · ~11.5 kg 1,800 W · UPS ≤10 ms Same ~1 kWh day-boat class; quiet fan at dock. Keep dry; not a submerged / open-spray rating. ~$380–500
Anker SOLIX C1000 Spare Wh 1,056 Wh · ~28 lb 1,800 W pure sine Long day + spare for mates’ phones / camera. Boot of the tow vehicle more than kayak hatch. ~$400–600
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus Trailer / camp 1,024 Wh expandable 1,800 W · strong solar Overkill on a kayak; useful if boat day ends at a campsite with panels. Shore / campsite secondary — still cover from spray on deck. ~$600–900+
