Axes that actually differ
- Wh. RIVER 2 256 Wh vs RIVER 3 245 Wh — ~4% apart; not a buying reason by itself. Size: what size · Wh class guide.
- Output. Both 300 W continuous AC, 600 W surge / X-Boost (X-Boost runs resistive loads at reduced power — not true 600 W).
- USB-C / car port. EcoFlow comparison card: RIVER 2 USB-C 60 W max, car port 100 W; RIVER 3 USB-C 100 W max, car port 126 W. Laptop users notice the USB-C step. Check label for your SKU.
- Charging. Both list ~60 min 0–100% on AC and 110 W max solar (EcoFlow card: RIVER 2 ~2.9 h, RIVER 3 ~2.6–2.8 h solar, ideal sun).
- UPS / noise / app. EcoFlow lists RIVER 3 at <20 ms UPS (UPS SKU <10 ms) and <30 dB, with Wi-Fi + Bluetooth app; RIVER 2 lists 30 ms. Desk/modem bridge buyers: work-from-home outage.
- Expandability. Neither RIVER 2 nor base RIVER 3 takes an extra battery per EcoFlow listings; the expandable step is RIVER 3 Plus — expandable vs single.
- Cycle rating. EcoFlow AU card lists RIVER 2 at 4,000 cycles to 80% (other regions 3,000+) and RIVER 3 at 3,000 — check listing; both LFP.
