Festival camping power (phone + lights + speaker + fan)

Multi-day field camping without a generator: keep phones charged, tent lights on, a Bluetooth speaker alive for daylight, and a USB fan through hot nights — sized by Wh, ranked for quiet overnight neighbours.

Festival load stack (planning watts)

  • Phones (1–2 people). ~10–25 Wh/day each if you’re on maps + messaging; more with hotspot.
  • LED string / lantern. ~5–15 W × evening hours.
  • Bluetooth speaker. Often 5–20 W while playing; zero when off — daylight-only keeps neighbours happy.
  • USB / tent fan. ~3–10 W continuous on hot nights — the silent Wh killer over 8 hours.
  • No mini-fridge cosplay. A compressor fridge is a different Wh class (see fridge / van pages).

Typical festival average (phones + evening lights + modest fan nights, speaker daytime only): about 20–50 W averaged over 24 h depending on fan duty. Specs from manufacturer pages (checked Oct 2026).

Quiet overnight (festival etiquette)

  • Fan curve > brochure dB. Light-load fan noise matters in a tent city at 2 am — prefer units that stay quiet under ~100 W loads.
  • Speaker off after quiet hours. The station isn’t the problem; your playlist is.
  • No petrol generator. Most festivals ban them — fumes, noise, and fire risk. LiFePO₄ stations are the compliant tool.
  • Charge before gates. Solar helps between sets if you have panel space; don’t count on it in a crowded paddock.

Wh class for 2–4 day festivals (estimates)

Usable Wh ≈ rated Wh × 0.85. Hours ≈ usable ÷ average watts.

Phones + lights only (~15 W avg)

~16–68 h

286 Wh ≈ 16 h · 1,024 Wh ≈ 58 h — weekend phones covered (estimates)

+ Fan nights (~35 W avg)

~7–49 h

286 Wh ≈ one hot night+ · 1,024 Wh ≈ 2–3 day buffer (estimates)

+ Daytime speaker (~50 W avg)

~5–35 h

Step toward 1 kWh class for a long weekend with fan + speaker (estimates)

These are estimates for shopping — brightness, fan speed, and hotspot use change draw.
