Naming honesty · Week 2

BLUETTI EB-series vs AC-series — naming honesty

EB- names QuietWatt still sees on used markets and older catalog pages are the previous portable-station generation shorthand. AC- names (AC70 / AC180 / AC200 / AC300 class and siblings) are the current mid lineup QuietWatt cites on brand pages. Feature-class honesty, not a winner crown. Chemistry, expand modules, Wh / W / prices: check listing / label — do not assume an EB SKU matches today’s AC card.

Honesty first (read this)

  • No invented Wh, watts, cycle counts, or street prices. QuietWatt reuses only sibling-published class cites (e.g. AC180 / AC200L on brand pages) and otherwise says check listing / label. Used EB nameplate Wh and chemistry vary by exact SKU — confirm the unit sticker and seller photos.
  • LiFePO₄ shift is real, SKU-specific. Current mid AC lines QuietWatt tracks are mostly LiFePO₄-labelled. Older EB units on the used market may be NMC or earlier LFP generations — read the label, not the series letter alone. Chemistry: LiFePO₄ vs NMC.
  • Used EB needs cycle / firmware caution. Second-hand EB boxes can hide cycle count, swollen packs, missing apps, or region-locked firmware. Checklist: buy used · firmware updates · warranty what matters.
  • AC70 / AC180 entry may already be enough. Phones, modem, laptop, light camping, and short fridge bridges often fit AC70 / AC180-class without AC200 kg — see what size · AC200 vs AC300.

Framing below is planning honesty from manufacturer product-page patterns and QuietWatt sibling citations (checked Oct 2026) — not QuietWatt lab tests, used-market appraisals, or electrical / emergency-planning advice. Estimates labelled.

Six axes that actually differ

  • Naming / generation. EB- = older portable-station naming QuietWatt still sees on used/listings. AC- = current mid lineup QuietWatt cites (AC70 / AC180 / AC200 / AC300 class). Same brand, different catalog era — confirm the exact SKU card.
  • LiFePO₄ shift. New mid AC kits QuietWatt tracks advertise LFP; older EB stock may not. Cycle claims are manufacturer copy — treat as order-of-magnitude. Chemistry: LiFePO₄ vs NMC · battery cycle life.
  • Expansion batteries. Current AC200L / AC300 / AC500-class paths QuietWatt tracks advertise B-series extras on some SKUs. Older EB expand stories (if any) are SKU-specific and often discontinued — expandable vs single · AC200 vs AC300.
  • Used EB caution. Ask for cycle count / health screenshots, app login proof, firmware version, and original invoice when possible. Grey imports can hit region walls: buy used · firmware.
  • AC70 / AC180 vs AC200 class. Entry AC70 / AC180 often covers camping / apartment overnight; AC200 / AC200L-class is the portable mid step before AC300 home floors. Size first: what size.
  • Warranty / support. New AC retail usually has a live manufacturer warranty window; used EB often ships as-is. What to read on the card: warranty what matters.
