Best portable power stations for CPAP overnight

Overnight CPAP backup is a specs job: a pure sine wave AC inverter (or an approved DC cable from the CPAP maker), enough Wh for an 8-hour sleep window, and quiet enough for a bedroom. This page compares current stations on those numbers — not on clinical outcomes.

What matters for overnight CPAP power (specs only)

  • Pure sine wave AC. Mainstream EcoFlow / Anker / BLUETTI / Jackery stations use pure sine inverters. Modified-sine units are a poor match for many CPAP power supplies — stick to models that list pure sine on the spec sheet.
  • Wh buys hours. Draw is mostly blower + heaters. Public manufacturer test figures for a common ResMed AirSense 10 class machine are roughly ~7 W device-only, ~22 W with humidifier, and ~34 W with humidifier + heated tube (ResMed Air10 power-consumption data cited in public summaries). Your label and a plug-in watt meter win over any table.
  • Humidifier is the big lever. Heated humidifier / ClimateLine-style tube can roughly triple draw vs blower-only. Turning comfort heaters off stretches battery — a settings choice, not a therapy recommendation.
  • DC vs AC. Some CPAP makers sell a DC cable or converter that skips the inverter. That can cut losses. If you use the wall brick into an AC outlet, size Wh with ~15% inverter/idle overhead.
  • UPS switchover. Sub-20 ms UPS modes reduce the chance of a brief outage resetting the machine when the grid drops — still verify with your own setup.

Not medical advice. QuietWatt lists battery and inverter specs for shopping research. We do not recommend therapy settings, diagnose conditions, or guarantee any machine will run for a full night in your room. Confirm backup plans with your equipment supplier and the CPAP manufacturer’s documentation.

Overnight Wh estimates (label: estimates)

Rough math: usable Wh ≈ rated Wh × 0.85 (AC inverter + idle). Divide by average CPAP watts over the sleep window. Figures use public bands (~7–10 W device-only, ~22 W humidifier, ~34–44 W humidifier + heated tube from ResMed Air10-class test summaries). Real draw varies with pressure setting, leak, room temperature, and heater duty cycle — measure yours.

Device-only (~7–10 W)

~1 night → many nights

286 Wh ≈ 20–30 h · 1,024 Wh ≈ 85–120 h (estimates)

Humidifier on (~22 W)

~11–40 h

286 Wh ≈ ~11 h · 1,024 Wh ≈ ~39 h · 2,048 Wh ≈ ~79 h (estimates)

Humidifier + heated tube (~34–44 W)

~5–45 h

286 Wh ≈ 5–7 h (tight) · 1,024 Wh ≈ 20–25 h · 2,048 Wh ≈ 40–45 h (estimates)

These are estimates from manufacturer/public watt data, not lab guarantees and not medical guidance. If overnight continuity matters to you, prefer the 1 kWh class (or larger) when comfort heaters stay on, and test a full night at home before you need it.
