Home projector / movie night — blackout Wh honesty

Projectors often draw more than a living-room TV for the same movie night — lamp / laser + fan + HDMI stick / console stack. Compare TV / streaming and monitor; game night path: game console. Keep the pipe alive with Wi‑Fi / modem.

Projector watts — movie night without the surprise Wh hit

  • Often higher than a TV. Many home projectors idle ~150–300 W class (lamp/laser + cooling); big TVs for streaming are often ~50–150 W. Movie night on a projector can burn Wh faster than the same film on a panel — see TV / streaming honesty.
  • Stack the stick / console / soundbar. Fire stick, Apple TV, Blu-ray, or console + soundbar add 10–80 W+. Size the whole entertainment stack, not just the projector brick.
  • Vs monitor: office panels are modest (~15–40 W) — monitor blackout. A projector is a different job; don’t assume dual-screen WFH math covers movie night.
  • Streaming needs the ISP path. Projector + stick is useless if modem/router are dark — pair with Wi‑Fi / modem backup. Apartments: apartment blackouts.
  • Lamp vs LED/laser. Older lamp units run hotter and often higher continuous W; portable LED pico projectors can be kinder (still measure once). Runtime figures below are estimates.

Specs from manufacturer pages (checked Oct 2026). Runtime figures are estimates. Not AV or electrical advice — follow projector and station OEM manuals; watch lamp heat and ventilation.

Projector / movie-night Wh estimates

Hours ≈ (rated Wh × 0.85) ÷ stack watts · dim eco mode before you buy a bigger pack.

Projector ~180–250 W

Film-length gate

1 kWh ≈ ~3.5–4.5 h usable alone (est.) — one long movie ok, marathon soft

+ Stick / soundbar

Stack ~200–300 W

~3–4 h on ~1 kWh (estimates) — size the whole stack

Vs TV / monitor / console

Pick the lighter screen

TV often wins Wh · monitor for WFH · console separate

Model Wh · continuous AC Projector / movie fit Vs TV / monitor / console Approx. USD
EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus Pico 286 Wh · 600 W OK for low-W LED pico + stick briefly; thin for lamp home theater. Prefer TV path on this Wh class. ~$180–300
Anker SOLIX C300 288 Wh · 300 W Continuous W soft-gates many lamp projectors; pico/LED only. Keep modem on a separate tiny load if needed. ~$200–280
Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 Movie 1,070 Wh · 1,500 W ~1 film + buffer @ ~200–250 W stack (estimates). Still check if a TV would stretch Wh further. ~$499–589
BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 1,024 Wh · 1,800 W Similar ~1 kWh movie math — measure projector watts once. Console + projector stacks: see game console. ~$380–500
Anker SOLIX C1000 Expand 1,056 Wh → 2,112 Wh · 1,800 W Expand packs help double-feature / soundbar stacks. Apartment movie kits: apartment blackouts. ~$400–600
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus 1,024 Wh · 1,800 W class Solid projector + stick + soundbar evening. Don’t confuse with WFH monitor budgets. ~$600–900+
BLUETTI AC200L Best headroom 2,048 Wh · 2,400 W class Best Wh here for marathon / brighter lamp units + network. Pair with Wi‑Fi honesty — ISP street power still required. ~$800–1,100
