Gaming PC + monitor: UPS vs portable station

Gaming towers spike harder than a laptop desk — surge / continuous watts vs Wh runtime. Desk UPS cousin: home office UPS. Meeting-day sizing: work-from-home outage.

Surge vs runtime (gaming honesty)

  • GPU + PSU spikes. Idle may be 80–150 W; load can jump to 400–650 W+ on mid/high builds. Boot and frame spikes need surge headroom.
  • Desk UPS wins flickers / safe shutdown (minutes). A 650–1500 VA UPS rarely holds a gaming session.
  • Portable station wins multi-hour Wh — if continuous AC clears the PSU and UPS/EPS mode is fast enough not to reboot.
  • Monitor + router + mesh add 30–80 W. Size the stack, not just the tower sticker.
  • Don’t daisy-chain UPS → station unless both manuals allow it. Prefer UPS on tower + station on network, or one station with UPS mode.

Runtime estimates

Hours ≈ (rated Wh × 0.85) ÷ average PC + monitor watts.

Idle / light ~150 W

~1.6–11.5 h

286 Wh ≈ 1.6 h · 1,024 Wh ≈ 5.8 h · 2,048 Wh ≈ 11.5 h (estimates)

Gaming load ~450 W

~1.9–3.9 h @ 1–2 kWh

Need continuous W ≥ load; surge for GPU spikes

Filter by fit. Prefer UPS/EPS <20 ms and continuous W above your measured load.

Model Wh · AC / surge · UPS Est. @ 150–450 W Gaming honesty Approx. USD
EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus Too small 286 Wh · 600 W (X-Boost 1,200 W) ~0.5–1.6 h light only Not a gaming load plan — monitor/router maybe. ~$180–300
Anker SOLIX C300 288 Wh · 300 W N/A for most towers Continuous W below typical gaming PSUs. ~$200–280
Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 Idle / light 1,070 Wh · 1,500 W / 3,000 W surge ~2–6 h class (est.) May cover light gaming if measured load fits; verify UPS behaviour. ~$499–589
BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 1,024 Wh · 1,800 W · UPS-class ~1.9–5.8 h (est.) Good flicker bridge + Wh for lighter builds; high GPU still short. ~$380–500
Anker SOLIX C1000 Expand 1,056 Wh → 2,112 Wh · 1,800 W ~2–6 h · ~2× expanded Extra Wh for longer sessions — continuous W still the gate. ~$400–600
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus 1,024 Wh · 1,800 W / 3,600 W surge ~1.9–5.8 h solo · expand Stronger surge path for GPU spikes; expand for raid nights. ~$600–900+
BLUETTI AC200L More buffer 2,048 Wh · 2,400 W class ~3.9–11.5 h (est.) Best Wh/W in this set for sustained gaming + monitor — still measure your PSU. ~$800–1,100
