Quietest portable power stations (noise / fan dB for apartments)

Shared walls punish loud fans. This page ranks stations by manufacturer and lab noise figures under light load — the apartment neighbour test — and flags when fans ramp under fridge or fast-charge loads.

How to read power-station dB claims

  • ~20–30 dB. Whisper / library. Typical marketing “quiet” band for light AC loads or silent-charge modes.
  • ~35–45 dB. Quiet room / soft fridge hum. Fine in a living room; may annoy in a bedroom at night.
  • ~50 dB+. Noticeable conversation-level fans — common at high AC output or fast AC charging.
  • Distance matters. EcoFlow often cites ~1.6 ft / 0.5 m; Anker sometimes ~3.3 ft. Numbers are not always apples-to-apples.
  • Load matters more than the sticker. A unit silent at 40 W (router + lights) can roar at 800 W or while AC-charging at max.

Specs below are from manufacturer pages and published lab notes (checked Oct 2026). Always verify the SKU — Quiet Mode / Silent Charging usually trades charge speed for lower fan noise.

Comparison: quietest first (light-load focus)

Filter by noise band. Prefer models that stay ≤30 dB on apartment loads (Wi‑Fi, lights, phones, light CPAP).

Model Noise (cited) Capacity AC output Quiet notes Apartment verdict
Anker SOLIX C300 Whisper compact ~25 dB
@ 3.3 ft (maker)
288 Wh 300 W (surge 600 W) Very quiet on light AC; independent tests still show fans rising toward ~38 dB at full load. Best tiny apartment nightstand / closet pick for phones + router + LED lights.
EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus GaN quiet <30 dB
@ 1.6 ft (maker)
286 Wh
expandable to 858 Wh
600 W (X-Boost 1,200 W) RIVER 3 series marketed as library-quiet; App Quiet Mode further reduces fan activity while charging. Strong shared-wall default under ~300 Wh; expand later if you need fridge hours.
Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 Quiet 1 kWh 30 dB
maker “whisper”
1,070 Wh 1,500 W (surge 3,000 W) Jackery cites 30 dB peace-and-quiet; third-party notes ~36 dB at ~50% load, louder near full AC. Best quiet ~1 kWh for bedrooms / CPAP-adjacent rooms (still not medical advice).
BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 ≤30 dB silent / under 600 W
50 dB max (manual)
1,024 Wh 1,800 W (lifting ~2,700 W) Flyer: ≤30 dB Silent Charging Mode; maker also cites ~30 dB under 600 W output. Quiet apartment 1 kWh when you stay under mid loads; expect fan climb near max AC.
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus <30 dB @ ~600 W
rises under heavy / fast charge
1,024 Wh
expandable
1,800 W (surge 3,600 W) Light-load / ~600 W quiet claim; use app Quiet Mode when AC-charging overnight next to a bed. Good expandable storm kit that stays civil on Wi‑Fi + lights; move away for kettle / heater draws.
Anker SOLIX C1000 Watch fan Quiet at idle / light
lab: loud fan under load (Gen 2 noted)
1,056 Wh
expandable to 2,112 Wh
1,800 W (SurgePad 2,400 W) Excellent power density, but OutdoorGearLab and others flag noisy fans under sustained load — poor bedroom neighbour. Kitchen / hallway floor spot for fridge nights — not the quietest shared-wall pick.

QuietWatt is independent. We do not sell these products. Noise figures depend on load, distance, ambient temperature, and firmware — verify on the official product URL before buying.

Apartment neighbour tips

  • Put the station on a soft pad away from hollow walls; fans couple through drywall.
  • Prefer USB-C / DC for phones and routers when possible — less inverter heat, less fan.
  • Enable Quiet / Silent charge modes; top up during the day at full speed.
  • Fridge compressor starts are short but loud for the station — place it in the kitchen, not the bedroom.
