Security load stack (planning watts)
- Modem / ONT + router. ~10–30 W — required for cloud alerts / remote view.
- NVR / DVR. Often ~10–40 W depending on drives and channels.
- PoE switch + cameras. Budget ~4–12 W per camera class (IR / PTZ higher); eight cameras can rival a laptop.
- Wi‑Fi battery cams may already have onboard cells — still charge hubs / base stations if used.
- UPS vs station. A tiny UPS bridges flickers; Wh for overnight comes from a portable station (same story as home office UPS).
