Laptop blackout — Wh honesty

USB‑C PD is usually the efficient path — inverter AC bricks waste Wh. Pair with Wi‑Fi / modem backup for a real WFH stack. Lighter than a gaming PC UPS; distinct from a full home office UPS desk.

USB‑C PD vs inverter AC — laptop is the light WFH load

  • Typical laptop draw is modest. Many ultrabooks pull ~20–65 W charging/working; thicker workstations ~45–100 W under load. A mid ~1 kWh station can often cover a full workday with headroom (estimates).
  • USB‑C PD beats wall-brick AC. Charging via station USB‑C PD (60–100 W class) skips inverter losses (~10–15%+). Using the OEM AC brick on pure-sine AC works but burns more Wh for the same charge. Prefer PD when the laptop accepts it.
  • WFH combo = laptop + router. Connectivity is the silent gate — size modem/router on Wi‑Fi / modem backup or Starlink backup, then add laptop watts. Full stack: WFH outage.
  • Vs home-office UPS: a desk UPS is for short ride-through + surge; a station is Wh runtime. See home office UPS vs station. Laptop-only is lighter than PC + monitor + printer stacks.
  • Vs gaming PC UPS: desktops can be 300–600 W+ continuous — gaming PC honesty. A laptop is the lighter outage path. Phones/tablets are even cheaper Wh — phone / tablet charge.

Laptop Wh estimates

Hours ≈ (rated Wh × 0.85) ÷ load watts · PD path often better than AC brick ÷ 0.85 again.

Ultrabook ~45 W PD

Mid easy workday

1 kWh ≈ ~18–20 h usable (est.) — often a full day+

+ Modem / router ~20 W

Still mid-friendly

Stack ~65 W — ~12–14 h on ~1 kWh (estimates)

Vs gaming PC / desk UPS

Laptop wins on Wh

PC UPS burns far more; desk UPS is short ride-through

Comparison: laptop-duty honesty

Filter by USB‑C PD / light WFH laptop fit on portable stations.

Model Wh · continuous AC Laptop / PD fit Vs office / gaming / Wi‑Fi honesty Approx. USD
EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus Short 286 Wh · 600 W Often a half day on PD ~45 W; thin if router + laptop all day. Still beats a gaming PC attempt on this box. ~$180–300
Anker SOLIX C300 288 Wh · 300 W Strong USB‑C PD for many laptops; Wh is the soft gate for long days. Prioritize modem on DC if connectivity first — Wi‑Fi. ~$200–280
Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 Workday 1,070 Wh · 1,500 W Easy workday laptop + light extras via PD or AC (estimates). Laptop stack wins vs gaming PC; still size Wi‑Fi. ~$499–589
BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 1,024 Wh · 1,800 W Similar ~1 kWh workday math — measure laptop watts once. Good mid path without desktop waste — vs office UPS. ~$380–500
Anker SOLIX C1000 Expand 1,056 Wh → 2,112 Wh · 1,800 W Expand packs help multi-day WFH or laptop + Starlink stacks. Add loads from Starlink / WFH before promising the week. ~$400–600
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus 1,024 Wh · 1,800 W class Solid workday laptop + router + phone/LED extras. Still skip gaming-desktop budgets — gaming PC. ~$600–900+
BLUETTI AC200L Best headroom 2,048 Wh · 2,400 W class Best Wh in this set for long outages + laptop + network + storm extras. Pair with WFH / storm kit stacks — still not a gaming-PC budget. ~$800–1,100
